PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Everyone finds a sense of hope in the New Year. There may not be another group of people more happy to be in 2016 than Philadelphia sports fans.
For the four major teams, 2015 was bad, but did you know it was historically bad?
TIME was curious about where Philadelphia’s 2015 ranked among the worst years in sports for a city with all four of the major professional sports represented.
The Eagles missed the playoffs and fired Chip Kelly. The Flyers missed the postseason. The Phillies did the same and loss 99 games and the Sixers were the Sixers.
According to STATS LLC, 2015 was bad, but it wasn’t the worst year in the history of sports. Philly teams were a combined 120-206 in 2015, good for the second lowest winning percentage of all time for a city represented by a team in each of the four major sports.
So, what poor excuse for a sports city was pathetic enough to have the worst sports year of all time?
Well, that was Philadelphia too. The worst year came in 1972 when the Flyers, Sixers, Phillies and Eagles combined to go 110-208-16.
