The New York Jets will name Geno Smith as the team’s starting quarterback for its Week 7 game against the Baltimore Ravens, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Jets are 11–11 with Ryan Fitzpatrick at starting quarterback, including 1–5 this season. He has thrown for 1,441 yards, five touchdowns and 11 interceptions on the year, but the team is apparently ready to turn to Smith after a poor start to the year.
Smith has not started a game for New York since Dec. 28, 2014. He headed into the 2015 season as the team’s starting quarterback before suffering a jaw injury in a locker room fight with former teammate IK Enemkpali. He has an 11–18 record as the Jets starter in his first two seasons.

Fitzpatrick completed 16 of 31 passes for 174 yards and one interception against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday before Smith entered the game, completing four of six passes with an interception. Just before the start of the season, Fitzpatrick signed a one-year deal worth $12 million.
The Jets also have Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg on the roster as other quarterback options.
