Showtime has a number of sports-related shows premiering or returning in the coming weeks, and today Chris DeBlasio was promoted to SVP Sports Communications at Showtime Networks. He has guided the sports PR department since joining Showtime in 2005 and will continue to oversee the premium cabler’s sports media, talent and public relations, sports awards, live event production support and sports messaging.

DeBlasio led the publicity campaign for the Floyd Mayweather Jr-Manny Pacquiao fight in May, which was the highest-grossing pay-per-view event in history. He and his team also helped bring the MMA program Strikeforce to Showtime, and he oversaw the launch of the Super Six World Boxing Classic. DeBlasio will report to Trisha Cardoso, EVP Corporate Communications.

Before joining Showtime, DeBlasio was managing director of the New York City office of Brener Zwikel & Associates, a leading sports and event publicity agency.

Three sports-themed series premiere tonight on Showtime: Season 39 of Inside the NFL,  Season 4 of 60 Minutes Sports (Showtime, Season 4) and A Season with Florida State Football, which follows last year’s A Season with Notre Dame Football. On October 21, it will air One & Done, a feature-length documentary spotlighting Ben Simmons, the No. 1 pick in this year’s NBA Draft.
