The Nashville Predators signed forward Colin Wilsonto a four-year contract worth $15.75 million.
Under terms of the agreement announced Monday, Wilson receives $3.75 million in 2015-’16 and $4 million each of the next three seasons. Wilson was a restricted free agent.
The 25-year-old Wilson set career highs in goals (20) and points (42) and tied a personal best in assists (22) in 2014-’15.
COLLEGE BASKETBALL
Memphis leading scorer Austin Nicholshas transferred to Virginia.
Nichols averaged 13.3 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.4 blocked shots per game as a sophomore with the Tigers.
The 6-foot-9 Nichols will have two years of eligibility remaining and must sit out the 2015-’16 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
SOCCER
The coach of Mexico’s national soccer team is known for his histrionic displays of emotion during games.
Now Miguel Herrera’s off-field composure is being questioned after a television sports anchor claimed the coach punched him at the Philadelphia airport following Mexico’s 3-1 victory over Jamaica to take the Gold Cup.
Television Azteca sports anchor Christian Martinoli described the incident Monday on a Television Azteca program. He said Herrera apparently wanted to hit him again but fellow sports commentator Luis Garcia got between them.
Martinoli has criticized Herrera’s performance as coach as have many Mexicans.
World Cup: The United States will host Aruba or St. Vincent and the Grenadines at St. Louis on Nov. 13 in the Americans’ opening qualifier for the 2018 World Cup.
Seeking their eighth straight World Cup appearance, the Americans are at Trinidad and Tobago on Nov. 17, then play at the Guatemala-Antigua and Barbuda on March 25 before hosting the winner of that series on March 29.
The Americans play at Aruba or St. Vincent on Sept. 2, then close the fourth round at home against Trinidad on Sept. 6. The top two nations in the group advance to the six-team regional finals for North and Central America and the Caribbean, which will produce three qualifiers for the 2018 tournament in Russia.

Jordan Wilimovsky cruised to a 12.1-second victory in the 10-kilometer open water race at the world swimming championships in Kazan, Russia, one of 10 men to qualify for a berth in next year’s Olympics.
The 20-year-old swimmer from Malibu, California, took the lead with 3 kilometers remaining and powered through the finish chute to hit the touchpad in 1 hour, 49 minutes, 48.2 seconds.
Ferry Weertman of the Netherlands earned silver in 1:50:00.3. Two-time 10k world champion Spyridon Gianniotis of Greece took bronze in 1:50:00.7 to earn his fifth Olympic berth at age 35.
TENNIS
Andy Roddick is taking a break from retirement to play in this week’s Atlanta Open.
He is playing doubles with his friend Mardy Fish, who is getting closer to retirement himself.
Roddick and Fish are a wild-card entry in the doubles draw and play later in the week.
VOLLEYBALL
Two of the United States’ best hopes for a medal in men’s beach volleyball are shuffling partners less than a year before the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
Beijing gold medalist Phil Dalhausserhas split with his partner, two-time Olympian Sean Rosenthal. The team has won six times on the FIVB international tour, but Dalhausser has fought an injury this year.
Dalhausser returns to his first partner on the beach, Nick Lucena.
Lucena had been playing with Theo Brunner, and they are the No. 2 U.S. men’s team in qualifying for Rio. Brunner will team with Rosenthal.
