Antonio Valencia may not be available for Manchester United in the Manchester derby on Saturday, 10 September, as he is away with Ecuador until the day before.
Valencia, 31, has today been shortlisted for the Premier League player of the month award for August, after starting the season impressively at right-back.
But with the converted winger late to return from international duty, manager Jose Mourinho may be forced to select one of Phil Jones, Matteo Darmian or Timothy Fosu-Mensah.
“The day before Man City, we will still have Sergio Romero, Marcos Rojo and Antonio Valencia arriving,” he told the Manchester United website.
“It will be a complicated process but we know it is like this when we have these players. And I would love all of the players to go because it would mean that everybody is being selected for their national teams.”
