Longhorns head coach Charlie Strong is excited about the addition to his roster.
Another former Baylor signee, wide receiver Devin Duvernay, officially signed with Texas on Thursday. Duvernay got a head start on the resumption of his recruitment because of a compliance error. Like Urquidez, Duvernay is rated as a four-star recruit, but comes in at No. 53 overall in the country. The Sachse, Texas, native is also considered the fifth-best player in the state and the eighth-best receiver in the country in the 2016 class. Both players are great additions to UT’s loaded 2016 class.
Offensive lineman Patrick Hudson, running back Kameron Martin and defensive backs Parrish Cobb and Donovan Duvernay were also granted full releases by Baylor. Duvernay is the twin brother of Devin Duvernay.
The players decided to leave the school after head coach Art Briles was fired in late May. The decision to move on from Briles came after an investigation into the school’s handling of sexual assault accusations, including several involving BU football players.
