A TOP sports star is being investigated by police over allegations he callously infected a lover with HIV.
The international ace has been given a formal written notice informing him it is a criminal offence to knowingly pass on the virus.
The police inquiry began when the lover contacted them after the pair split.
The ex claimed to have learned the star had HIV only on finding the “vitamin pills” he took were in fact anti-viral tablets used to treat the condition.
The alleged victim said: “I found a pill that had GSI on it.
“When I googled it I discovered it was an anti-viral pill and alarm bells started ringing.
“I went to a clinic next day to get tested and be on the safe side.
“They gave me the news straight away and I started crying.”
The star was issued with the formal warning by the Complex Cases Unit at Thames Valley Police.
Police said: “We are investigating an incident of grievous bodily harm.
“This relates to an alleged offence between December 2013 and June 2014.
“No one has been arrested and inquiries are ongoing.”
