UK Sport plan to launch investigations unit following its British Cycling inquiry – Telegraph.co.uk

UK Sport has conducted independent reviews in other sports recently and its chief operating officer Simon Morton said: “What UK Sport will be doing is looking in the next year at whether we have the right structures in place in terms of an investigatory function.

“We understand that there is an increasing need for British sport to have an investigatory function around independent reviews.”

Citing Fifa’s ethics committee as one example of such an independent unit, Morton added: “Rather than reinventing the wheel every time and independent review comes around, to actually have clarity on the process, I think, would be beneficial.”

Morton was speaking at the launch of ‘A Code for Sports Governance’, a set of strict criteria with which all sports governing bodies in the UK must comply in order to receive public money.
