At one point in time, it looked like Wednesday was going to be a very good night for Washington D.C. sports fans. John Wall made his return for the Wizards and had Washington out to an early lead. The Capitals scored an early goal to take a 1-0 lead in Game 7 against the Rangers.
Even late in the games, it looked like D.C. sports fans might end the night celebrating. Paul Pierce buried a 3-pointer to give the Wizards an 81-80 lead with less than 10 seconds to play.
Then this happened.
While that was going on, the Capitals and Rangers were in the middle of overtime. Not even 15 minutes after Horford buried the Wizards, Derek Stepan ended the Capitals’ season with this game winner.
To recap:
At 10:35 p.m. DC fans were celebrating Pierce giving the Wizards the lead while the Capitals skated in OT.
At 10:36 p.m. Horford’s putback beat the Wizards.
At 10:50 p.m. The Rangers sent the Capitals packing.
